VMware

Brief History

Just 10 short years ago, VMware was a small start up in California. Today, VMware is the de facto industry standard in an industry (x86 virtualization) that didn't exist ten years ago.  With over $1BB in annual sales and over 3,000,000 users in thousands of companies, including 100% of the Fortune 100, VMware is an amazing success story.

With industry giants Microsoft, Oracle and Sun, among others, now working diligently to figure out how to gain ground in this enormous new market, forward thinking IT companies, like BayScribe, look to evolve older industries through these proven technologies.

Virtually, everything is better on Virtual Infrastructure.

Virtual Dictation vs. Physical

Traditional Dictation Systems have multiple points of failure which can result in extended downtime of the entire system. Many facilities rack numerous servers to accomplish what BayScribe can in a fraction of a single ESX Server. And those big, expensive, long-term maintenance contracts can’t prevent the complete failure of traditional systems either... so, why risk it?  Go Virtual!

A key advantage of ‘Virtual’ is that the hyper-visor (ESX Server) insulates the VM from the hardware, which means that as long as the ESX Server is operational, BayScribe will be able to run in your environment. For those not running Virtual technology, we offer hosted solutions as well, running in the vCloud.

A Virtual Appliance or Virtual Machine (VM) is an application or system that runs on Virtual Server technology, like VMware.  In addition to the many environmental benefits of Virtualization, there are numerous technology benefits such as Continuous Availability (Zero Downtime) and Disaster Recovery. Contact us to learn more about the many ways this system will benefit your facility.

Over 900 Virtual Appliances are available, but only 1 for Dictation!

BayScribe confirms that we will support customers running BayScribe on supported Operating Systems in a VMware virtual machine environment. BayScribe will provide unqualified support for BayScribe in a Box running in a VMware virtual environment in an identical manner as with BayScribe in a Box running on any other major x86 based systems without initially requiring reproduction of issues on native hardware. Should BayScribe suspect that the virtualization layer is the root cause of an incident; the customer will be required to contact the appropriate VMware support provider to resolve the VMware issue.  While BayScribe products are expected to function properly in a VMware virtual environment, there may be performance implications which can invalidate BayScribe typical sizing and recommendations.
